At Ananas B.V.(“Ananas”), we know you care about your personal data and so do we. We have prepared this privacy policy to explain how we collect, use, disclose, transfer and protect your personal date. By using or accessing the Ananas App and our services, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. The collecting and processing of personal data through the Ananas App is done in accordance with the Dutch Data Protection laws. We may update our Privacy Policy to reflect changes regarding our information practices. If the changes are material, we will inform you of that via email. WHO ARE WE We are the controller responsible for the processing of your personal data collected through the Ananas App. We are a Dutch company and we have our registered address at Sarphatikade 21, First floor, 1017 WV, Amsterdam.

WHICH DATA DO WE COLLECT

The Ananas App is currently only available if you have a Facebook account and authorize access through Facebook. By connecting to our App with Facebook you give us permission to access and use your information from Facebook, including but not limited to, your Facebook ID, Facebook profile picture, any information that you have permitted Facebook to share with us and any information you have made public in connection with that service. Information from Facebook is provided to us under the terms of Facebook’s privacy policy. You can control the information that we receive from Facebook using the privacy settings in your Facebook account. When you create a profile on the Ananas App, Ananas collects and processes your personal data including your name (first and last name), location, gender, interested gender, age, birthday, nationality, your native language, the language you want to learn, the language you want to teach, your email address. For the personalization of your profile Ananas further collects and processes your biography and your activities and interests that you add to your profile. When you use Ananas our server automatically records information that your mobile phone sends to us ("Log Data"). This Log Data may include information such as your Internet Protocol ("IP") address, application version, features of the Ananas app that you use, access times and dates, and other statistics.

FOR WHAT PURPOSE DO WE COLLECT AND USE YOUR PERSONAL DATA

Personal data collected by Ananas is used for the purposes for which the data was provided, for example, we will use the personal data you submit to Ananas to match you with other Ananas users according to your indicated preferences. We also use your personal data to track unwanted behaviour and ban users that violate our terms and conditions. We may use your personal data to send important notices, such as communications about purchases and changes to our terms, conditions and policies. If you object to this, please contact us at [email protected]. We may use third-party analytics tools, e.g. Facebook Analytics, to help us measure traffic and usage trends for the App. These tools collect information sent by your mobile application that assists us in improving the App. We collect and use this analytics information in aggregate form such that it cannot reasonably be manipulated to identify any particular individual user. 

SHARING AND DISCLOSURE OF PERSONAL DATA

When you register your profile through the Ananas App and submit your personal data other users will see your first name, age, distance languages you learn and teach and your biographies. You can choose what other personal data or other information you want to provide to other users as part of your profile or through chat sessions with other users and via your Ananas Edit Profile page. You can review and revise your profile information at any time. Providing other users with your personal data is voluntary and should correlate with the degree of interaction you want to have with other users. If you sign up via your Facebook account, your Ananas profile and your Facebook account will be connected. Information regarding your topics and chats, can be shared with Facebook and will appear in your Facebook Friends’ newsfeeds, according to the settings you select. Please review and consider what content and information you want to share on Facebook.

TEXT CHATS

Text-chat protocols will be stored but not shared with any third parties unless required by law. However, we cannot prevent your chat partners from distributing recorded chat sessions without your or our permission through third party websites or services. We recommend that you exercise caution in disclosing any information, personal or otherwise, during a chat session.

IS MY PERSONAL DATA GIVEN TO THIRD PARTIES

Ananas B.V. does not sell your personal data to third parties and will not give your data to third parties. We do however cooperate with government and law enforcement officials and private parties to enforce and comply with the law. As such, we will disclose any information about you to government or law enforcement officials or private parties as we, deem necessary or appropriate to respond to claims and legal process (including but not limited to summons), to protect the property and rights of Ananas B.V. and or a third party. Ananas B.V. may employ third party companies and individuals to facilitate our App and services, to provide the App and our services on our behalf (such as maintenance services, hosting, database management, web analytics and improvement of our app’s functionalities) or to assist us in analysing how our app is used. These third parties may have access to your personal data only to perform these tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose.

PROTECTION OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

Ananas B.V. takes physical, administrative and technical measures to protect your data from being stolen, lost or used in any way that is not in line with the purposes for which the data was collected. We work with secured networks and encryption if necessary. We store your personal data on secure Amazon servers located in Ireland and Paris. We will make any legally required disclosures of any breach of the security, confidentiality, or integrity of your unencrypted electronically stored “personal data” (as defined in applicable state statutes on security breach notification) to you via email in the most expedient time possible and without unreasonable delay, insofar as consistent with (i) the legitimate needs of law enforcement or (ii) any measures necessary to determine the scope of the breach and restore the reasonable integrity of the data system.

HOW LONG WILL WE KEEP YOUR DATA

Data is stored on our servers for as long as necessary to provide you with the requested service. When you or we cancel your profile, we will immediately delete all of your personal data.

CHANGING OR DELETING YOUR DATA AND DATAPORTABILITY

You may review, update, correct or delete your personal data in your registered profile via either Facebook (to change your profile picture) or directly in the Ananas Edit Profile page. If you completely delete all your personal data, then your account may become deactivated. If you would like us to change or delete your record in our system, please contact us at [email protected] with a request that we change or delete your personal data our database. In order to verify your identity, we ask you to send a copy of your ID attached to your request. Be sure to blacken out your photograph and personal social security number. We may retain an archived copy of your records if required by law. You further may ask us to provide you or a third party with a readable format of your personal data that we process.

COMPLAINTS

Please be aware that you can file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority in case of a violation of your privacy.
